Question for the next AMA - Multiple Iterations

Hey folks,
I am a long time player and stalker of the forums. I appreciate you all taking the opportunity to review our questions and answer several of them covering a wide swath of topics. One thing that didn't get answered (not sure if it was asked) was if you could cover your design philosophy with regards to multiple iterations of the same character when there are so many characters the player based have been clamoring for and are obvious (to us) adds?

For instance, (and this is an easy example) Han has 4 iterations and will most likely have at least one more when the new movie comes out. However, some of the fan favorite characters from the movies (Bossk, Jango, Admiral Piett, Calist Rieekan, Ponda Boba, Nien Nunb, etc) and from the EU (Hondo, More Clones, Reven, Etc) are not in the game.

TL;DR: Why do you decide to add multiple iterations of the same characters instead of adding a wider variety of unique characters to the game?
