Bastila protection issue

Hey all,
I just unlocked and trained bastila to leave 53 and got her to gear leave VI. For some reason her initiative skill doesnt give my jedi the protection buff, or any of the other buffs listed under the skill. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this a known issue?

Might sound like a stupidly obvious question but: Do you have her in the leader slot?
