Where are all the Bombers and Interceptors?

We have X-Wings, TIE Fighters, their Clone Wars equivalents, and some iconic ships like Slave I and Millennium Falcon. However, there is not a single Bomber or Interceptor-type vehicle for any faction - just Fighters. Why aren't these ships in yet? It would give immense diversity to Ship combat if implemented well.

Bombers have always been the ones attacking and damaging large Capital Ships while being supported by Fighters. These could have Specials that directly interact with the enemy's capital ship in some way. Setting back Cooldowns, removing Turn Meter, etc.

Interceptors could follow the same path as TIE Silencer - fast and good at disabling / damaging individual ships while having little supportive interaction with other ships.

Fighters and iconic ships could continue doing what they are doing - supporting and complimenting ships while simultaneously dealing damage to enemy ships, taunting, etc.

Think of how important Imperial TIE Fighter is in Ship battles because of how it impacts the allied Capital Ship. Now imagine people having Interceptors that will ignore it's Foresight, or Bombers that will Daze the Capital Ship or reduce it's turn meter. People would have to have a good mixed fleet, which would help diversify what players use in Fleet Arena and also make each faction's ships more visually appealing simply due to having more options other than X-Wings, Geonosian Fighters, and TIE Fighters.

    You need pilots

This is done easily enough. We have Scarif Rebel Pathfinder for a U-Wing, Sith Assassin as a pilot now, and obviously iconic characters piloting ships such as X-Wing. Not every unit piloting a ship needs to be iconic or explicitly stated as "pilot" in their name.

For Galactic Republic: Jedi Guardian, new Clones, new Jedi such as Jedi Sentinel
For Separatists: Most of the ships are either droids that can be on the ground or in the air (no pilot), or were piloted by B1 Battle Droids (of which there are several varieties that could be added to the game)
For Rebels: We have Rebel Pilot as an obvious option, Cloud Car could be piloted by Lobot, the generic Hoth units could pilot ships as well, etc. Generic units for generic ships would work really well for rebels
For Empire: We already have a TIE Pilot, and I doubt they want to do Imperial TIE Bomber Pilot, Imperial TIE Interceptor Pilot, etc. for all their pilot units. In all honesty though, the Empire has the most diverse roster already for ships.
For Resistance / First Order: Haven't seen much ship variety for these two anyway in other media, so I don't think they can add more in regardless.

    I want a Y-Wing with a gunner, pilot and astomech ....

We could have TIE Interceptor piloted by the Imperial Guard, or at least preferably the crimson TIE Interceptor.
If they make Rebel Pilot unlockable, then they could add Y-Wing for them. They could give an A-Wing for Ahsoka (Fulcrum) as she's seen piloting one in Rebels.

I can't see Cloud Car added because it's an atmosphere vehicle and not a starship so unless they included vehicle battles, it's unlikely to appear any time soon.

CG painted themselves in a corner by linking toons to ships through crew member mechanics. Made sense at the beginning, but now it’s very limiting.

Unlikely they are going to invest time/energy/resources into creating toons like Pops, Tie Bomber Pilot, Jake Farrell, Ten Numb.

Best hope is that you start getting generic toons, like Rebel Pilot or Tie Fighter Pilot, that could be crew for multiple ships. Very unlikely though.

Don't complain about ships. They've already ruined it once. Pray they don't alter it any further.
In game name: Lucas Gregory FORMER PLAYER - - - -"Whale blah grump poooop." - Ouchie

    In game guild: TNR Uprising
I beat the REAL T7 Yoda (not the nerfed one) and did so before mods were there to help

You think it could be worse ? :) even MORE boring and stupid than yet? :P

I also posted a thread 1 or 2 days ago with the same idea. It would pick up the idea of the old Star Wars Battlefront 2 and might save ship battles.

My idea would be as follows in detail:

Raise the starting grid to 5 again. Give the Capital ships 4 areas that can be Attacked : Weapons, Bridge, engines/power plant and Hangar.
Attacking the wepaons wont the the capital ship use an attack. Attacking the bridge disables a random sepecial ability of the capital ship. Attacking the power plant slows down the enemy capital ship by 50%. Attacking the Hangar disables the ability to call Reinforcements.

BUT, only Bombers or strong Attacks can damage/destroy captial ship areas. So you have to decide to choose between attacking the fighters only or make a mix or go for the capital ship. If all 4 areas get destroyed you can win. So there are 2 ways to win the battle.

And i dont see a problem introducing toons, or linking existing chars to possible ships. There are enough chars with real background stories or appearances that can be linked. Still there is the chance to make simple toons with less greater kits but usability within ships. SF First order tie pilot is the same. Or the resistance pilot what so ever. Maybe make an pilot take with pilot synergies? there are enough paths that can be walked. Some lead to dark places, some lead to unimaginable wisdom, others to a treasure full of Gold (Dollars).

For now the selection of ships is so limited that the strategic variety is not really there. The more ships we have the more other abilities we have to bring varience to our teams.
