Fleet battles that stop

Why is it that from time to time the fleetbattle stops? The game isnt crashing or freezing but you can't make any moves. The timer just keeps counting down.
Seems to happen when you kill a ship. Costing me 50 crystals for a refresh today

The action buttons disappearing is an issue through out many game modes, but doesnt seem to be consistently tied to any 1 action or item.
