RNG trumps skill or speed

I run an EP (zzEP, ZThrawn, zSion, zDN and Vader) team in arena (105k GP) all G12 with several 6 dot mods. Just faced the same identical team with 5k less GP and average speed was 20 less. Could only get a few hits in until they went on a nonstop rampage. Faced the same team 7 minutes later and smoked them. What am I missing?

I am joking, but how did you open up the battle? if you feed them TM, speed matter less.
