leader abilities

I know this is a beginner question and I'm sorry if it's been covered already but if you kill a squad leader do the leader abilities go away?

They still work.

Some leader abilities will work, but Lumi's mini -heal, part of her leader ability, will stop. I think it's same with Bariss.
