Gear request is bugged

When I request an gear piece the game goes into a loading screen that lasts forever. It forces me to close the app and restart it but my request goes through every time.

That is a bit annoying because it makes me donate less now.

Crumb posted this in the known issues post:
“Client may crash when requesting gear from the Character screen.
Temporary workaround: Whenever you start the game go to Guild home first and check your guild roster. This should prevent any crashes due to this issue during this session. Subsequent logins may have the issue return if you do not check the Guild Roster.”

I am having the same issue. After choosing to request gear I get the perpetual spinning wheel that doesn't ever time out. In order to reset I have to completely close and reload the app. Simply going to the home screen and going back to the app returns me to the spinning wheel of death. The gear request goes through.
