Either your finger slipped or you erroneously tapped the wrong suit of white armor. Or some other mechanic like Isolate prevented your action.

Simply a case of you clicking the wrong character. Unless you're running them on auto, in that case z AI is clearly clicking on the wrong character.

As a related aside, can they do something about Yoda in the leader slot? I don't know how many times I've tried to do Watch and Learn with Ezra only to end up having it trigger on the character in the "front right" slot instead of on the smaller Yoda half hidden behind them.

Yeah, the invisible toon selection boxes in combat mode can be finicky sometimes. Tapping / clicking a point farthest from the other toons but still close enough to the one you want works best I find.
