Savage Oppress and buff removal

Does anybody know what exactly happens when he gets attacked by a buff removing skill? He doesn't have the icons shown afterwards, but the words flash through anyway. So is the order of effects happening 1. damage 2. triggered buffs 3. buff removal, resulting in him not being buffed but somehow defying logic (buff removal should imo happen simultaneously with the damage, before the triggered effect), or is it a display issue and he actually is buffed?

It is working as you stated it. QGJ uses Humbling Blow, damages Oppress, opress gets buffed and then QGJ removes them. To change this to remove buffs first would mean that killing blows would allow QGJ to buff his team where today it doesn't happen.

For QGJ buff removal thing, using it on savage (with no buffs) will grant your team offense, and leave savage buffless. So yes, your order is correct. Damage happens first, then buffs are applied because of the damage, then the buff removal happens, which buffs your team. Similar to kylos retribution. If you remove it with QGJ he will still counter because the damage caused the counter to proc, then it's removed.
