Quick question about shards

If I already have say Sid 7 stars and I purchase 5 for him from arena can I use those on another toon and if so how?

No, if you were to purchase 5 more shards, they would be sent to your Shard Shop for 15 currency there. You can't use it on another character.

And you will need 300 of that currency to buy 2 shards at the Shard shop ... So, you can exchange your extra shards for another char shards, at 10:1 rate.
