Spending money because you can't compete without doing so is sad. (I've bought a couple of packs, so Im a bit sad too).
Doing what you want with your own money is perfectly fine. (Unless it ruins the balance of a game for everyone else...but then you probably don't care anyway, so whatever)

Spending 15 bucks on Avocado toast pretty much guarantees you're going to the bad place

    Does that sum it up?

I dont think it does as long as someone thinks its ok to buy success. There is a reason why millennial are looked down on so much. Its not age, its perspective. This is a microcosm.

I don’t think the majority of whales in this game are millennials. Most seem to be in their 30s and 40s.

    Millennials are in their 30s.

    Does that sum it up?

Drug companies spend billions on research. If they didn't, they couldn't compete.
Ferrari spends millions on their race cars. If they didn't, they couldn't compete.
Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc... spend billions designing and manufacturing products. If they didn't, well you get the idea.

As for balance, 99% of the worlds population holds 56% of the worlds wealth, the other 1% holds 44%. To make it look even uglier, the bottom 50% (from a wealth perspective) of the US hold a little over $250 billion dollars in wealth. Bezos, Gates and Buffet hold a little over $300 billion, give or take a couple billion from day to day.

It's not sad, it's capitalism. Yes, I get that some would consider capitalism sad, but probably best not to go down that rabbit hole.

The sooner you realize the world is not fair, the sooner you'll stop worrying about what the other guy has and what he does with it.

Hate the game, not the player.

50000 is a pretty low spender compared to the rest of the guild. Those guys were 1M or so GP behind the top guy.

Think about it. For that last 1M GP all those hard to get pieces of kit need to be bought.

But each to their own. As long as they arent stealing off their grandma then it's up to them.

Thing is, most are just guessing what they’ve spent, including us whales. I’m guessing I’ve spent in the area of $50-75k, but I’ll never 100% know. I’d bet less than 1% of whales track their true spending.

This is absolutely true and the gaming industry is capitalizing on it big time. FTP game model seminars always have this point, whales don’t have a budget and spend a lot more than they think.

    so...the same as everything.

Kind of, but not really. Usually whales don’t have budgets for anything, but know closer to what they spent on say 100k car or 3 million dollar yacht.

With mobile games, especially with massive amounts of transactions, most are way off if they had to guess the amount they spent.

Case in point is snakesonaplane admitted massive gap between 50-75k

what if you have 5 yachts or 20 cars? SOAP can always...check, you know.

There are many instances outside of gaming where this holds true as well, but with gaming transactions it’s heightened. When I say gaming, that includes casino gaming as well. The major difference with mobile gaming is the frequency, ease and quickness of the transactions.

Look, there are people studying and making careers out of this in terms of gaming. Doesn’t take much more than a yacht to sell a yacht to a whale, but it’s taken mega tons of data and experimentation over the years and also understanding of psychology to continue to maximize extracting dollars out of whales.

If you still don’t understand it, not much more I can say to help you.

now buying things for a game is comparable to casinos? lol ok

Actually, exactly that... remember when they had to disclose the odds on loot boxes because they couldn’t access certain overseas markets. Now you know you are truly gambling when you decide to buy a variable drop box...

well of course they should have to post odds, especially with purchases imo

Every time you post you expose how little you understand about this industry, but somehow continue to try and disagree with facts.

Games like this are actually designed based on the same principles as slot machines. It’s all about the dopamine affects on the brain.

Oh and to be clear, I haven’t once passed judgement or would ever pass judgement on what people spend money on, All I did was agree with snakesonaplane and expand on that.

lol ok. guess what most advertising is based on? I mean, c'mon
Maybe End Game isn't for you

Interesting conversation, but this went off topic pretty quick and is no longer game related.
Some comments are also borderline throwing insults.
