Why isn't this a thing?
Why isn't there some type of global chat in this game? It would have many benefits, and there are also many ways to eliminate the problems it could potentially create:
Benefits:
- Guild recruitment would become much easier, since guild leaders are able to now advertise their guilds via this chat system.
- Creates a seemingly more active (in terms of daily players) atmosphere to the game, drawing in more players and keeping in players longer.
- New players would have a place to go and ask for tips and info to help them progress through the game, since there would most likely be at least one experienced player on the chat to give them advice.
Problems and How to Eliminate them:
- Player Toxicity: Create a basic chat filter system, which when paired up with the already implemented reporting system, can ensure that unwelcome behavior will not be tolerated in the global chat. If I could make a personal suggestion on this matter, I would suggest that the punishments for player toxicity in global chat only affect global chat. Bans from the game for being toxic in the global chat is kinda harsh, so mutes in global chat should suffice.
- Bot Spamming: Players would have a 5 to 15 second cooldown between each message they send on the global chat.
- Overcrowding: The global chat would need to be divided into about 100 chatrooms consisting of up to 15 or so players. This way, there aren't 100 people in one chatroom causing everyone's messages to be flooded out be everyone else's.
- Multiple Languages in one Chatroom: Multiple chatrooms would need to be set up based on the language the player selects for their global chat. This way, everyone is able to communicate with everyone else in their chatroom without needing to google translate anything.
Hopefully this can be implemented? Is there a specific reason that global chat has never been implemented?
