Leader Abilities

There seems to be a trend to have generalist leader abilities have a stronger effect compared to synergy leaders. Shouldn't synergy leaders have the stronger effect with the drawback of only effecting synergy characters?

For example, Old Ben (I believe his leader ability isn't working currently but just going of what the ability says it should do) lists a leader ability of 15% evasion and 25% meter gain for all allies, while Ahsoka lists 14% evasion and 15% meter to only Jedi and Nightsisters. Leia gives rebels 18% crit while IG-88 gives all allies 20%. Greedo gives scoundrels 45% crit damage and Boba Fett gives all allies 50% crit damage. Looking down the character list there are ever more like this.

Are there any plans to work on leader abilities in the foreseeable future? The way a lot of them are currently set up seems backwards.

Very true, this is why so many Dooku/Sid/Phasma/ect leaders are out there. Some toons just pale in comparison, especially when they have LESS percentage of an effect for LESS people to enjoy.

Look at Chewy (Wookiee Resolve – All allies gain +50 Defense with a 50% chance to gain Defense Up for 2 turns when attacked) versus Urrorrurr (Tusken Chief – Tusken allies gain 50 Defense, and other allies gain half that amount).

There are some obvious better (more encompassing) abilities, I guess they are just better leaders in general? I wouldn't want any current leaders nerf'd, but this might be something for them to think about for future characters.

I think the current general purpose leaders are fine as is, in my opinion its the specialist leaders that should have their numbers bumped to encourage trying to make synergy squads. For example with Boba Fett already giving 50 crit muliplier to ALL allies, why not let Greedo give say 55 crit multiplier and 5 crit chance to scoundrels.

Synergy leaders, from a game balance perspective, should be more effective for their synergy group than just using a general purpose leader. In the Boba/Greedo example, there's is literally no reason to use Greedo over Boba in the lead slot. The same for Ben and Ahsoka. They have the exact same effects, but the "all allies" skill is stronger than the synergy skill. Just seems wrong.

    Agreed, it's mystifying.

    This needs to be addressed.

Well, with today's community update I wanted to bring this back up. The problem is exactly as it was when I first posted. I hope that faction specific leader abilities can be looked at to make them (ideally) different from "everyone" leader abilities or at least better than them as you are locked to a specific faction for use.

In addition to a lot of general purpose leader abilities being better, there are some duplicate abilities like Vader and Veers, with Vader's being strictly better in every situation.

There's really no reason to have identical abilities, but if they are going to be identical at least they should be the same effect power so players have a choice of which to use rather than one just being better. If one is going to be always worse it might as well be removed as a leader ability. And hopefully replaced with a new, interesting leader ability...
