Consumables in conquest clarification

For consumables boosting specific toons, such as the “thrill of the hunt” tech that specifically boosts Bounty Hunters, do they expire whether you use (bounty hunters) in a battle or not? If the duration is 2, would I have to use Bounty Hunters in back to back fights or I lose that second battle?
