If that doesn't work, for me it helped to clear the Cache and delete the data in the App settings.

Pixel 3XL with most recent version of OS.
Was able to open the game once, did all the downloads, but am having the same issue trying to get in again. Force closing, restarting, none of it seems to have any impact not sure why it randomly loaded once earlier.

Eventually I let it sit at the title screen for a while and it worked. I think it was downloading an update before it got to a screen where it could tell me that. Frustrating though.

218 313 414, uninstalled and reinstalled it and it worked, every time i try to open the app it takes a solid 2 minute, my wifi speed is 300, and its an s10.
Also everytime it gets into the game it trys to do another update not sure whats wrong
