Question about jedi knight Luke event

So I'm currently at the phase of the jkl event with the 3 rebel ships needing to jump into hyperspace. I understand the objective but I constantly keep getting stuck with which ship to send. My han's millennium falcon has both pilots at relic 5 and my wedge antilles is currently at gear 11 with a fully upgraded ship. Should I take wedge any higher than gear 11 to slightly improve his odds of survival as he is almost always the first ship to get destroyed? And how long does the falcon have to wait to leave?
