Who's the leader?

I notice when you borrow a hero for a regular battle or a challenge battle, it doesn't say leader anywhere. Does that mean the borrowed hero is the hero? Or there is none? Or is it the guy up first?

You get the hero abilities of both your leader and any the borrowed ally has.
