Platoons/Operations Are Not Enjoyable

This is a hero collector game. People collect heroes for a variety of reasons: power level, they look cool, to unlock another character, etc. But once they have them they want to use them and platoons/operations don't let them do that and so are poorly designed.

Going through the trouble of unlocking a Darth Revan or Malak only to be "rewarded" with having to platoon them rather than use them to smite your enemies feels like a punishment. Now with the relic requirements and even GLs it's so much worse. Congrats on getting your JMK team to R9, please proceed to stick them in these little boxes for points.

That's not even considering the less useful characters. If it were just the Rose Ticos and Carth Onasis of the world--a way to add utility to journey guide requirements--that would be one thing. I'm actually not sure if it's worse to ask players to jam their GLs into platoons or to have to bring someone like CUP up to R9 solely to fill a quota.

I think the concept is cool, though, so here are two suggestions on better ways to implement it:
  1. Use tags instead of specific characters. You need X Bounty Hunters, Y Imperial Troopers, Z Light Side Scoundrels, etc.
  2. Replace the platoon system with missions. E.g. This mission requires Ewoks as they attempt to shut down the shield generator. As your guild hits # of win threshholds, it turns off a bonus for the enemy on all missions in the zone.
