How can you tell how many stars an unlocked character has?

Hey guys. Been playing since February, but I can't seen to figure something out. As the title says, how can you tell how many stars an unlocked character has? For example, I have an unlocked character that requires 80 shards to unlock. How many stars does it have? Or do they all start at 1 star, and every character just needs a certain amount of shards to be unlocked?

Depends on how many shards it takes unlock. 10 shards is 1*
25 is 2*
50 is 3*
And 80 is 4*

And yoda only unlocks at 145 shards so 5* but he's the only one

Thanks! This is what I was looking for. I guess it's useful to know when choosing which characters to farm. 80 shards for a 1 star characters did seem strange!
