Why do they not lock down each shard?

I've only been playing this game for maybe a month or so and I absolutely love it. It's my understanding that when they released the game it was level capped and then they added to level 70 and now last week to level 80. The guys that told me about the game were level 70 when I started and had been playing for a couple months.

It seems to me that the game would be more enjoyable if these level caps were enforced within each new shard for a period of time and then released rather than every new shard created getting everything. My reasoning is that we would have time to develop out our troops to the max current level as well as start to play a few other toons without feeling the constant pressure to get to max level to stay on top of arena and everything else.

I've taken first in arena I think for 5 straight days now but I feel pressured to keep grinding my squad and meanwhile other toons that I'd like to level up some just get more and more stale and behind.

So why not leave each new shard capped at 60 for 2 months then release level 70 for 6-8 weeks then release 80 etc.... thoughts?

Because then more people than you would complain that other shards are getting new stuff before them. Your opinion is not reflective of your entire shard...

    Interesting question.
If they were to do something like that it would take way the professionalism within the game. You don't see games like Call of Duty stopping you at second prestige. My take on it.

And people want progression it's nice that I even if I'm in the 60s can eventually go over 70 unlike older players who were 70 for quite a while

Ya, you guys are lucky. I sat at level 70 for how many weeks not accumulating any xp, no free level up bonus, no real reason to complete dailies. At least, now there is a daily reward when you reach 80. 70... Nothing.

I honestly see both sides of the discussion. As someone who hit 60 just as the cap was raised to 70, but then was at 70 for several weeks before the recent raise to 80, I actually can understand the OP's point. I actually didn't mind being "stalled" at 70. It gave me an opportunity to create some depth in my roster, explore some other heroes, strengthen my "bench" which makes GW more interesting.

But I also understand the idea that there are those who want to climb the level ladder as quickly as possible. It also allows the whales to hold an advantage longer - and encourages people (like the OP) to spend to "keep up with Jones'" (and the whales!), so I don't see it changing.

I can understand the view of not minding being stuck at 70. You're caught up to everybody level wise. You really only have to focus on gear. It's not that bad when I think about it now lol.

I appreciate your perspective; it is one I don't have... I'm currently level 64 and my GW squad is starting to seriously fall behind at level 54 (some of my arena squad is used there but JC and Barriss are not and they are the ones that are falling behind). I'm not sure if I should take a few days credits and attempt to level those toons up or just keep grinding to try to fend off my #1 spot as long as possible while knowing that most likely my #1 squad will fall once the shakeup occurs this week anyways. The extra crystals and arena candy each day this week have been super nice and I'm not wanting to let my paws off of them lol
