I am late but I finally figured it out....

Everytime players level, gear up toons, "game company" create a meta setup.
This makes everyone reasses their toons and adjust.
Before you know it, the "game company" pushes an uodate which changes the meta.
Now you either grind and pay/buy to create the new meta.

The cycle continues.

Oh dear "game company" I bow to thee for this master plan. How many MBAs and financial consultants are burning the midnight oil to come with new techniques to milk the $s.

South Park although is a cartoon it does tell the real story.

They should enjoy this now while they can cause a year from now when the majority of us have every character unlocked changing characters out for the current meta will be easy with the grind out of the way.
