It's such a chore to do GW now. I would like to hear from the other side (if any) why they like it with protection. Hehe.

I like it because I can still clear it, and it requires a little more thinking/planning than before. Honestly, it was getting a bit boring.

Not finding Protection itself an issue, ran through first time with no suicide squads and no retreats. However it's takes about twice as long. Don't know if I can justify that length of play time each day!

I play GW on the side while doing other stuff (programming, other games, watching stuff...) Because of the reduced damage everyone does, now it's easier for me (Barris (L), lumi, qgj, rey, filler), I don't even have to bother and see what the opponent does, because i can heal it off and focus on one character to take down at a time. It takes a bit longer due to protection, and against high dps teams it's a bit more challenging as you need more effort to take them down before they take you down, but it's by no means difficult, yet you still get some crystals, mats, ~500k creds, (at least one) shard, and tokens for characters/shard shop.

The only care I have to take is to make sure that either all heal CDs are off by the end of the battle, or put JC as the filler.

It would be nice to have some extra rewards for the extra time it takes, but once you have a solid team of healers, it's easy, and neither update has changed that.

Yes it takes a bit longer but you need less planning in my opinion. U have to take less care about lumi doing her heal at the exact right times because the match drags on quite a bit always giving you the chance to heal like 2 turns later that it used to be necessary. Slowly but surely u win with rare retreats. Its fine.

Thanks for your input. For me, it is more challenging as well but grindier in that sense. Longer fights, longer time to clear it. More and longer of the same thing is more boring in my opinion.

    Agreed.

I've always run a Jedi A-Team that has three healers, including Barris as a leader, so it's not very different for me. But for me, I haven't noticed much difference beyond the time concerns.

I feel that managing the CDs of your healers is key to GW ease as well. I run a rotation of daka, jc, lumi and talia. I don't have bariss yet but she must be very helpful dealing with all the sids. Rey is great as DPS to speed up the fights with heals making it very slow and even slower with protection and the update.

It would be nice for extra rewards but i would also appreciate them reducing the time to clear it instead and keep it challenging.

For the record, I like it. They're working on speed increase for it. I appreciate it too.

I've cleared it twice now with the changes, and I like it.

Yes, it takes longer. While I understand the normal mindset of mobile game players being that time is precious, mobile needs to be quick and easy, ect., I also feel that having to actually play the game, rather than sim and auto everything, is a good thing. If you don't enjoy the actual game mechanic, turn based fighting and using strategy to win, why play at all? In the me though, I think a bit of balance is necessary to appeal to both sides of this argument, and it appears they're doing that based on the community update.

Also, for the last month or maybe two...I've used the same team from start to finish to clear GW, almost with my eyes closed. 1/2 due to it being the optimal team, but 1/2 due to most of my other toons simply not being viable once I got 1/4 deep into it. Now I'm rolling with toons I'd never have used before, and it's FUN to be able to do that. I hope this part doesn't change.

GW is the biggest joke in the world with a Barriss lead. The enemy can't out-damage the health they gain each turn.

The protection actually makes the GW easier imo... as you get a little bit more wriggle room.. especially if you have an extensive roster so you can swap people in with full protection...

The only thing is each fight takes a wee bit longer than usual.. not a huge difference but noticeable.

Its no where as bad as a tier 4 tank challenge... that takes way way way too much time! but I'm gonna end up beating a dead horse if I keep going on about that.

Overall protection has actually made the game easier in both the GW and Arena.. not too sure about the battles though! not tried one yet.
Former crazy person of the guild "Shard Awakens"... *quit game 13th July 2016*

Game used to be fun when it wasn't a grind... if I wanted a grind I would have went and played old school Everquest or some Korean MMO!

I always liked GW and arena the best because they provided the most fun and challenge for me. It takes longer, but I'm okay with that because I like playing the game (which, oddly, I feel like many other addicts of this game don't).

The way I see it, is that if it starts taking up time from my life that Id rather spend doing something else, I'll not complete it all the way. the rewards agree not worth giving up what I would rather be doing with my life, and I'm okay with slower acquisition of resources than people who DEDICATE themselves. There was a week when I was traveling around the country where I let myself fall to 300 in arena. Yes, it made me miss out on some rewards, but honestly, it hasn't affected my standings in the long run. I am back to ending up top 5 every day. I'm ftp so everything takes forever anyway. That said, I've done GW every day so far because I've had time on the train to do it (I commute via subway to work).

+1 this. My second day of a compete clear since the update and I agree, it's more fun (emphasis on fun) because now I actually have to think about who I'm attacking and swapping in/out instead of just going in and bashing everything. Changes the way I have to play. To me, that's not broken. That's called evolution and you have to overcome and adapt. The people who are complaining appear to have gotten complacent with the norm prior to the update. Now there's a significant change and they don't like it.

You can't make everyone happy. It's the 80-20 rule.

    Solid post.

I like GW now. It has become more exciting to explore the new changes and gives me more game play per day (if I so desire it). I do wish they would change the reward system for GW to compensate for the time investment it takes now.

I really like GW now. Cleared 1st time, failed on final node due to lack of toons 2nd time (final node had a wicked combo that i couldnt get past, but still enjoyed it).

So, better because it's more challenging?

Beat it easily again today. About 10-15 mins longer. Facing different teams with rarer characters.

GW has become easier, less time consuming and more entertaining for me, because I do less retreats. The battles give me time now for healing and cooldowns, dodges and crits by the foe are not so serious anymore.
After reading a lot of posts, I think I know why my tactics work. I never went the 3 healers or healer lead route. I stick to my main team of Qui-Gon (L), Royal G, IG-86, JC and Lumi. Sometimes I throw in a sacrificial squad. That's it. More DPS, less grind.
Oh, yes, and when doing a retreat for the Qui-Gon opening assist, more often than not I shuffle in Royal G for a stun.

I cleared it this morning in just under 30 minutes and it takes slightly longer but it's fun to use a wider selection of characters.

At the beginning, healing isn't valuable so I load up my squad with droids and high damage toons. They can go about 3 or 4 rounds in no time before I start introducing healers and maybe bring in a tank for an especially hard opponent. I used 14 characters in total, only lost two of them and think the diversity makes it more fun.

Seriously, this. Barriss (L), Lumi, Dooku, QGJ, and RG (with RG at 6* and the others at 7*) have been my standard setup for a while now, no problems with a full clear (...yet?).

Kinda reminds me of a WoW dungeon run; typical setup is a tank, a healer, and 3 DPS. Running a dungeon without a tank is possible but frustrating, too many healers/tanks kills your damage output, too many DPS pushes the other roles out and hurts survivability. You gotta strategize and synergize to make it, brute force no longer guarantees success.

Its just longer so far, i have used my tanks a bit more now...super glad i have chewie maxed, vader has a use now even at 4* and mace can be more useful with qgj as lead. Yoda does shine in longer battles his BM can be used twice sometimes allowing toons to heal and get ready for next match.

It's OK. Still not hard, today and yesterday ran through it with my normal Barriss-led team and didn't lose anyone, didn't use any suicide squads today, and only a handful of retreats. It takes longer, but that's really it. Longer battles typically work to my advantage, as it's easier to manage cooldowns and heals, so it's fine but not wildly different.

Today I was facing 70+ level teams with at least 3 chars having protection right out of the gate, but it didn't matter much.

Took me about the same time as pre-update. I did drag it out because I was going back and forth chatting with guildies on Line, though. It may have added 5 or 10 minutes total to all of my battles together, but so what? I'm just happy they didn't wreck GW for me, haha.
