Storm trooper gets +Defense per empire ally. Unfortunatelly he starts out with abysmal defense and getting an additional +50% only make his defense not horrible. There are other toons out there with higher Armor without any special ability. He might have good defense with a +Def leader and +defense buff. But it won't be good on a full empire team only.
