Still being affected by this.
The error used to say 3.0 but today it was a 40.0 code.
And yes still losing energy and/or tries.
I play the game on an iPad

I opened another topic about this. I an suffering the same issue. But i do not receive an error code. Only the app restart and The energy price of the battle has been substracted. However the it has not been added to my level counter. I hope it can be fixed asap. Thank you.

Was hit again this PM by the 40.0 client restart,and unfortunately for me it happened at a crucial time, not only did I lose my last arena attempt ,but I also lost my chance to break into another prize zone.

I was lead to believe this had been fixed a while back,maybe I just misread updates because clearly it hasn't been sorted.
