Did the purple equipment drop rate decrease after guild update?

Pre-update I was able to farm ~11 purple gears with 360 energy. Now I am luck to get 4 from the same energy. I know they made these items available in the store, but they are for an exorbitant amount of crystals, and as a f2p player, I don't have that many crystals lying around. Overall it feels like a slap in the face to f2p players. Just wondering if anyone else feels the same way?
