connect the game to another game center

so I have now my own game center id and tried to connect my game from my moms game center to now my own. it asked me on my device, if i want to connect the game to the new game center. i confirmed, but the game started new with the intro to play?
what did i do wrong?

It didn't ask you connect, it asked if you want to switch games. You're stuck on your mom's account! At least it saved.
