Raid reset?

How long do raids stay open?
Today our tier 3 raid closed before most our members used their second daily refresh. It lasted one and one-half days. When I view the raid it show all the previous damage/contribution and the 38k fee to enter.

Is this an as-intended feature?
Could an officer have reset by mistake?

all raids except heroic stay open until completed. Heroic has a two day time limit.

I barely ever get a second shot at our tier 5 raids. They get done right after the daily refresh.

Someone must have canceled by mistake or on purpose. There's an "abandon" button the guild leader and officers can use to cancel a raid.
