It's just a giant log jam at payout time. It's way too easy for someone to lock out 1st and 2nd place if they want to spend the crystals. It's asinine!! Surely with all their great wisdom the Devs could come up with a better system.
In the mean time I will just keep hitting the battle button and see if I can get lucky enough to sneak into the 3 second window it takes for someone to run another battle.

I'm just glad they don't plan to fix this anytime soon. I want to get as many crystals as possible before they fix this PVP freebie.
All awards should be for the highest level you achieved in the previous 24 hours.
Yes, that would mean multiple #1 payouts...big whoop. It's electronic currency and we'd all relax about this silly 7 pm sniping / logjams.

so basically you want to take the #1 spot as close to pay out as possible, but because he locks you out after being number 1 way longer than you would be the #1, you think he deserves the #1 pay out less than you do ?
I like this solution!! It's been mentioned before and would make perfect sense. The only reason they don't do it is because they want the players to lack resources frequently so they buy crystals and credits, doing this would slow that potential sale....
Do sports teams win because they were in the lead during 5th inning/3rd quarter? No.
While I agree that something needs to be done with the lockout, this is not the way to do it. I've never seen a game that rewards people for something they managed to accomplish at some point during the day.
I've only managed to snipe 1st place once on my server and I was quite happy at that point. Otherwise I come somewhere in the top 10. It's a challenge to get the battle started late enough that you can drag it out but early enough that someone else doesn't lock you out.

Its just rewards, its a GAME. Stop complaining. You don't like it no one is forcing you to play.
There is not direct competition its bragging rights that's all not a horrible system its not FORCED participation.. it's a sideline.

Besides which there is no guarantee that even if you ARE 1st place someone won't take it away 30 seconds later.. its all random
i like this solution. It lets people play on their own schedule, deters timing lockout, and (from a game design standpoint) may actually encourage refreshes.

No kidding. It's funny because I listen to a more political talk show and there's discussion about how there's this movement towards Socialism in America and everybody wants everything to be 100% equal and what they're missing to just be given to them instead of working for it. It's funny how well represented that is in this game.

It actually is easy, anybody can beat anybody on offense. The AI is beyond terrible which is the main reason you see so many evasion leads. The only time I've failed to snipe and maintain the top spot is due to lag from spotty wifi connection or that arena bug kicking me out to the guild screen.
