This would create some interesting team compositions.
Republic could have some synergy with Clones, and Separatist with droids.

Of course, this would require a bit of work to balance it, and maybe add synergy/interactions.

Don't you feel sad when you realize that CUP has no faction tag? Giving him the Republic one would make him so happy...

These really should be in the game. It's been brought up a few times already, but with rebel, empire, first order and resistance and tags the prequel factions should be tagged as well.
