Future Empire Event?

Does anyone have any knowledge or theories about why they're giving us all of these empire shards?

I know a dev apparently commented on Reddit that we will need them for something, but what will it be? Will it be something like the Yoda event to get the emperor, or something like this clone/rebel event to get shards for another faction?

I really don't like any of the empire characters, and I don't want to farm them, but I will if that's what we need to do to get the emperor/max out Vader

No one really knows but guessing by the recent trend it looks like a scoundrel or empire character based event is coming up. If it's empire id imagine it's similar to the yoda event but for the emperor. If it's scoundrel it will probably be similar to the droid event
