No problem, the shard conversion is a bit weird yes. There probably is some max profit calculation behind it.

There is logic, maybe not great logic but it's there. The amount of shards is half the amount it takes to promote a character to the star level that character is. For example it costs 65 shards to promote a character to 4*, so a 4* toon awards you half that amount, rounded down of course.

This is wrong, 32 is correct.
1* = 7 shards
2* = 12 shards
3* = 25 shards
4* = 32 shards
