Might be this is intentional but I doubt it.
First off kudos to the devs... you all have probably been working days straight trying to help the mess someone forced on you.
I've seen this a thousand times in IT. Just think about what's going on now having people put in insane hours trying to quickly test fixes to something that can't be fixed this quick and cannot reasonably be tested this quick. You are only adding to the problem. Tell your leads. Tell mgmt. it's not a quick fix and they need to suck it up and admit it's a huge mistake. There is nothing wrong in that. What is wrong is trying to put lipstick on a pig to try and save face for mgmt who is only concerned about one thing and only one thing.
