Guild leader AWOL

Howdy, our guild leader is awol and hasn't logged on in more than a month. We are stuck and can't promote new people or make necessary changes. Can we somehow kick the old guild leader and promote one of our officers up to guild leader? The guild nominated me however they can't even promote me to officer since only the leader can do that. Please help!
