Character Shard Before Last GW Battle?

After the 9th GW battle today I got a random character shard reward (only Jedi Knight Guardian though). I don't ever remember getting a shard before the final battle. Has this happened to others, or is this new?

It happens, it's just really really rare. It's happened to me twice in 23 clears. I got a vader shard from my clear today. So I'm guessing GW is for the really rare stuff like that.

Yeah, I've gotten a few random shards. As illessen said, it doesn't happen much but it does happen.

I've got a Jedi guardian shard after the 11th battle. That's the only occurance for me

I got a Vader shard in the 2nd last battle the first time I beat GW. Hasn't happened since yet.

Got a single Talia shard after battle 11 last week, hasn't happened before or since.

I get a random character shard everyday when I complete GW. Sometimes i even get 2. But besides a couple Vader shards haven't got anything good. Usually for 1* or 2* characters. Today I received a greedo shard
