Avatars

A feature I would love to see in this game is an avatar system. Basically what it would boil down to is the player creating and customizing their own character in the game, a "Leader" of sorts (in fact, it would just be the cantina guest). If you've ever played games like Heroes of Might and Magic or Master of Magic, you know what I'm talking about.

The player could choose from a number of preset characters like Jedi, Imperial Officer, Smuggler, Information Broker and so on, or create and customize their character from scratch by picking active and passive skills, specialization, affiliation etc. This would have an impact on the way the game is played. For example, if you picked an Imperial Security Bureau officer as your avatar, he could boost your Imperial characters while at the same time prevent Rebels from using certain abilities (like Leia not being able to use Stealth when playing against him, since he's ISB). The avatar's skills could be used durig fights (the above-mentioned ISB officer could sacrifice a Stormtrooper to take out the enemy team's leader and deactivate their Leader ability) and out of them (like a temporary, rechargeable boost to "resource" gathering lasting 24 hours and requiring defeating 125 enemy characters in the Arena to recharge). There would also be passive skills available, so if you picked a Jedi Sentinel as your avatar, your characters could get a boost to healing.

Of course, you could also customize your character's appearance, he would also have slots for gear that you could find as random loot in battles, events or raids. The gear would have stats that would have a positive (or negative!) effect on your team. You could find a Sith lightsaber and give it to your avatar, increasing the damage dealt by your Sith characters, but decreasing the morale (speed, for example) of your Jedi toons.

You could develop your avatar in a number of ways - by gaining XP (obviously), through achievements (donating X items to your guildmates would give you a small bonus, like +1 or 2% to credit gain), fighting a specific number of battles with the same character/team and so on.

Any thoughts?
