TFP ship with no protection, possible bug

In ship battles if you use the TFP ship it comes into battle with no protection, but the enemies TFP ship will have protection. Is this how it's supposed to work, does your TFP ship just not have protection.

TF never has shields in the film lore / canon so this may be WAI. You can get temporary protection though via some of the other ship abilities (e.g. JC or AA's ships).
