in this tournament do the top 100 people get a character or just the top 5?

look at your prize board. It depends on your level. For the level 80+ the top 100 get characters. For people below level 80 the prize board is different.

Below 80 it is the top 25 (or so I've been told). Above 80 it is surprisingly the top 100 (unusual for a 4* but very much welcome).
