This doesn't matter anymore. Your success or failure is still recorded.
It automatically registers as fail if the game restarts in the middle of a battle.
Unless they broke it in the Ships update, then no, it doesn't. They fixed this many moons ago.

I was in the middle of an arena battle, I won and it registered as a win
Which is why they finally listened and made it so that your raid damage/arena battle/gw fight/ls-ds mission result was saved regardless.
Still usually this is followed by an update

No, but don't worry. No update notes simply means they didn't do anything major. They *always* tell us everything they do that's "major."
As we know from other updates they can push data but not activate it. So probably all background stuff.
