I needed 4 MkIV Droid Callers to get Kylo to Gear 7. I've been trying to 3-star DS level 5K (tons of Jawas and Obi-Wan) so I could sim farm it.
Today I took in 5* Gear 6 Sid (leader), 5* Gear 6 Kylo, 4* Gear 7 Fett, 4* Gear 7 Vader, 4* Gear 6 Maul, and a strong Phasma from an ally.
I nailed it.
I was able to soften up the first group of Jawas, and then Maul took em out back to back to back to back before they could attack. Similar run on the next two groups of Jawas, and by the time I had Obi isolated I had only Fett and Maul in the yellow. Took him down in just under two turns, and got those three sweet stars!
Winning a DS battle may be simple for most, but I've been throwing myself at this battle for 3 days, so it was a real feeling of accomplishment!
ETA:
Even though he's squishy, Darth Maul is a BEAST! He also helped me take out a Jedi team the same way in GW. Kill, full turn meter, kill, repeat!

I got darth maul out of a 350 pack and ever since hes been the only guy on my squad that remains 4 stars. Hes great, and when he becomes farmable, hes gonna wreck people.
But I have to add that my ally's Maul saved my behind in a couple of tough DS missions already.
I remember first having to do that level and it was such a pain.
