Will someone care to explain why the MK IV Stun Gun costs 1400 crystals. Don't all other gear pieces that require 20 salvage cost around 300 crystals? Seems mighty suspicious to me

It's possible this may have started out as a mistake, but they have been told about it so many times by now that the only possible reason that they are still in there at that price is that they are deliberately trying to scam their customers.

I have heard that if you actually buy them mistaking them for the Mk5 you can get the purchase reversed by customer support, but presumably enough people are not bothering that they feel the extra income is worth the additional work for customer support.
