What TF are zetas?

I am a ftp who doesn't plays the ships and only conctrate on toons. I only use the fleet arena to get toon shards. Can someone please just tell me what a zeta is?

It's an ability mat that allows you to upgrade certain abilities on certain characters to make them go from "kinda cool" to "god mode"

Zetas are rarer, but much more powerful.

In fleet shipments (after level 80 I believe) and the tier 3 ships ability mats challenge, where you need a 5* Tarkin command ship and 8 5* ships with pilots at decent gear levels.

if you left zeta aside until now but are lvl 85 and want to progress you should begin a new account...

You don't need any zetas to be at the top of arena. I'm F2P and have been playing since November 2015. I have 38 zeta mats now, so in another couple of days I'd be able to Zeta two characters. I don't feel I need to though, so I haven't spent any yet.
