Sith Assassin/Trooper: What era are these from?

Since Sith Assassin and Sith Trooper are generic characters, I assume they come from an era when there were armies of these guys running around. What era is that? Are they servants of the Sith, or actual Sith with dark side powers? How do they fit into that whole rule of two thing?

The Old Republic. Its not canon

    The Trooper is just infantry
The Assassin is a type of Sith.

There was no rule of 2 there was a Sith Empire.

Only place I've seen them is from the Knights of the Old Republic era, which is ~4000 yrs before the era of the galactic empire. But my knowledge is quite limited.

they are playable classes from the old republic MMO. sith trooper was non-force sensitive soldier in the sith empire's army, and sith assassin was a sith-trained force user who specialized in stealth ops.

Funnily enough, the Sith assassin uses Lord Kallig's mask. I don't know if they're saying that it is the player-character, or if they're just using it as a generic Sithy mask.
