I've always found there were fascinating stories behind how some of us gamers developed our names. Please share them here!
Mine isn't all that fascinating but back when Half Life used to be the big show gaming community, I joined up with a mod called Day of Defeat. Similar to Counter Strike, except for being placed in WW2 era (characters/maps/gear), the object was territory capture. Back then I had the alias "Slaughter" which I was aptly named for being very hard to kill and having the ability to wipe out a team on my own (Much Like Count Dooku in SWGoH). They allowed a player to spray their custom logo throughout the maps back then. Normally, I would mark spots that someone got knifed (which was my specialty!).
During this time, 2 things guided me toward the name WhoVille Sheriff. One was that even though I was in college, I was obsessed with the Dr. Seuss cartoon shortfilm "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." The other was the fact that nowhere throughout any of the lore, was there a Sheriff in that story! Thus I became the Sheriff of WhoVille, which allowed me to create a custom spray logo of the Grinch with a sheriff's badge. This also allowed me to pretend to have authority, until I was named admin and moderator of a forum community shortly thereafter.
It's a tale as old as 'Don't use your real name on the internet' time. Literally merged two of my favorite things back in highschool: The name of a Gothy Japanese hairband guitarist and my fondness for cutlery.
I have another name i go by in nearly every other forum, game ID, email, and its even attached to my business in some small way. I cant disclose that, as everyone would instantly be able to identify me in my real life, but it translates roughly to "the death of spirit."
its a portmanteau of sorts similar to what kozi has done. Widget_gadget was literally the first two words that came to mind that may not already be in use. Although i may have been known to others here under other "official" names. My roots run much deeper here than a mere gadget.
Intergalactic space slugs are recruiting. Pm me if interested in entering the slug life. ~°° ♡

I think you find coziness in spooning. Which makes a good point. Whether is it ice cream or not is up to the user.
Mine is not that interesting either. But it is long, lol. Anyways, I have known many good Jonathans (and no bad ones), so I have always liked the name. Plus, I like the account of Jonathan in the Bible. When I got my first pet (a super awesome yellow canary), I named it Jonathan, and I called him Little John for short. Notice the initials are LJ.
After a while, I kind of adopted the initials LJ as mine for when I didn't want to use my actual initials. It even became a sort of nickname for me.
When I started getting connected online, I quickly realized I didn't want everything I did tied to my official email, name, etc., so I set about creating an alias. I knew pretty quickly that Jonathan would be a good first name, but I couldn't decide on a last name. I thought, you know what would be cool? If my initials were LJ backward. So I had to pick a last name that started with L. So why not Luke after Luke Skywalker? Viola, my alias is Jonathan Luke.
7 has always been my favorite number for several reasons, so it wasn't hard to pick J7Luke as my tag. And I have stuck with that tag (and occasionally Jonathan7Luke if J7Luke is taken) for pretty much every game I play and forum I visit. After the fact, the abbreviations of J7 and J7L both really appealed to me, which just made me like the tag even more.
I've had many gamer tags since I first started gaming online in 1990, but I've stuck with "Asakura Shoji" for the last dozen years or so.
This current name actually came out of a coworker's error. When she was entering new customer information into our system and flagging them for me to look at, she did something weird and accidentally renamed my first name to one of the customer's names. Suddenly all my stuff was marked for "Shoji." It was pretty funny, but we fixed it quickly enough and I didn't think about it until a few weeks later when I playing an MMO and rolled a new character that was an Asian male. Clearly, he had to be "Shoji." I pulled the surname "Asakura" out of my head (that's probably from playing too much Nobunaga's Ambition). That MMO character quickly became my main, and people have called me "Shoji" ever since.
Side note: I am neither male nor Japanese, which has definitely confused some people.
I've been using the same name on several forums and websites on and off since fifteen years. At the time, I strongly considered a diplomatic career. I finally opted for another branch of business, but kept the name.
Chewie shards is a running joke in this game. They're given out when the devs make an apology to players. Plus, some funny memes. Ergo, ChewieShards_10. The 10 has no significance.

I think your middle name is actually Widget.
