Just a question about how GP matchmaking a G13s are used in the calculation. The power increase doesn't seem to be very high in going from G12 to G13, but G13 get more bang for the buck when it comes to mods. Shouldn't there at least be some sort of way to match people using both GP80 and giving bonus point to G13 without inflating their GP past what the devs think is reasonable?

Y'all just want to have easier matchups.
The problem with matchmaking is character power isnt a hardline you can measure reliably. Its relative, at one point g12 was a massive boost over g11. Now we have the same issue with g13.
Same could be said for someone arguing against fair power rating for g13
Assuming it's a question, there's no indication that it's used seperately. Just the bulk top X gp where g13s has next to no impact as you've observed.
^^This!
For instance if you take a maxed out all 7-star all G13 Darth Revan + Malak squad then it actually has a LOWER GP than a G12 CLS squad or G12 BH squad - both of which would get massacred by a full G13 DR+Malak squad.
What they need to do is to rename GP to GI=Galactic Investment, and then put together a more realistic "Power" calculation for characters, but of course that'd be a lot of work so likely won't ever happen!
Yes, I would prefer not to have matchups with my 7 G13 toons against my opponent’s 52 G13 toons.
You're right, it shouldn't....
But taking your gear level up a tier where all the equipped stats roll into the base stats should definitely be accounted for since it affects the strength of mods. G12 finisher shouldn't be worth any more than other G12 pieces. Going from G12 to G13 shouldn't be worth the same as going from G1 to G2 though.
Actually, g12 finishers SHOULD be worth more than other g12 pieces, as they provide not only the stat boost specific to the gear piece itself, but also a big percentage boost by virtue of having completed the entire gear level.
That's the issue - GP doesn't accurately reflect the "power" (actual battle effectiveness) the big advantage g13 vs. g12 gives.
IMHO, there are 4 things that have a drastic impact an a rosters effectiveness in TW/GA:
1) Meta toon availability (DR/Malak, GG/Sep-droids, Geos, JKR, CLS, etc.)
2) Zetas
3) Mods (number of 6 dot and quality speed mods)
4) g13 v g12 (or g12 v g11 for newer rosters)
As far as we know, almost none of the above four are truly taken into account - and where they are (zetas, for example) only in so far as they have a bearing on GP. The issue in that case is that a zeta on DR or JKR leadership ability counts the same as a zeta on QGJ or Maul's. So even there, the comparison comes up very far short of any accurate measurement of effectiveness in terms of performance.
The problem is that as the game has moved from "plug and play" characters to teams/factions whose kits and synergies provide much more of an advantage than arbitrary gear, star or zeta numbers, "Galactic Power" in almost any form is simply a completely irrelevant number that doesn't accurately reflect a roster's ability to perform.
This becomes painfully obvious when you start looking at comparable GP teams - a maxed FO team with the necessary zetas is about the same GP as a maxed GG team. The GG team can take down a DR/Malak team or hold off most teams on defense (save for a couple good meta teams). The FO team has no chance against DR/Malak on offense and can easily be dismantled by a large array of non-meta teams from JTR to Ewoks.

I beat the REAL T7 Yoda (not the nerfed one) and did so before mods were there to help

For the italicized portion: Aren't most gear pieces within a tier worth roughly the same, regardless of stat boost? Like maybe 20 points difference?
For the bolded portion: The finisher itself does not boost anything by a percentage. Someone could have the materials saved up for a finisher piece for a specific toon but not have the resources left over to purchase HSTR drop gear. They could equip the finisher, but not go to G13. Hence going up a gear level should provide a separate, substantial boost compared to the individual pieces.
All gear pieces in a tier are worth exactly the same. Crazy part is when a gear piece at g8 is valued differently than the same piece at g9.
Thats where gp based matchmaking runs into so much trouble. Its just a measure of investment, and mm is using it as a measure of combat effectiveness.
In a way it works because your opponents are on a similar investment level, if your getting blown out its because your opponent invested better and vise versa.
