Strong characters bad synergy

So here are my top characters
All level 57
1. Chewie 5*
2. IG-88 5*
3. Jedi Consoler4*
4. Ima Gun Di 4*
5. Talia 4*
6. Savage Opress 4*
7. Luminara 3*
8. Dathcha 4*

I also have a few other good characters
Ewok elder 3* level 53
Royal Guard 2* level 52
And my TIE pilot 2* level 52

I've been just defaulting and using my most powerful character (my top 5 above) to battle but they don't have any good synergy.
What am doing wrong and what combination should I be trying?

I would run ig88 as lead. I use a First Order team for the most part which works great. Star and gear up lumia and ig88. Farm geo soldier or another heavy hitter. And if doing pvp try using one healer as damage out weighs health.

I would look at anyone that might give a second attack along the lines of counter attacks or the IG88 assist. Seems to me Counter attacks have a higher ocurance then assists, might just be my luck.
