You can't damage a trash compactor with a blaster, they're magnetically sealed. They should build Star Destroyers out of those magnetically sealed trash compactors.
I'm sure Rey could crush it with a stick though....oh, no wait. Armor buff on the Trash Compacter. Nevermind.
