My SWGOH theory, can you debunk it?

So I've been thinking about how to effectively level up my characters and I decided to wait until one of them was seven stars and then level him or her up to 80. I tried this with my Leia, and I think she is pretty strong. I think this theory is valid because it allows a character to get its highest possible multipliers before it gain levels, but i really did no math about it? Am I correct?

nope. Given a level and number of stars the stats are fixed. upgrading one over the other has no effect

Stat = base stat * level multiplier * star multiplier

My guess, cause it's how I'd do it, is they calculate each toons stats at the start of each fight based on their level, star and toon base stats. There is no data field called "Bob's Rey's current agility". So what matters is level and star at the exact moment it's required.
