I was really happy with my guild. We were a great group of 50 players, beating heroic rancor, and very friendly and active on LINE. Some of us were powerful, some of us were not too great. but we stayed together and helped the weaker players improve. We even were all posting 0 on rancor after getting 7* Han Solo, so that we could get others to 7* as well. i loved the community i had, we were being selfless, and really working with each other, rather than on top of each other.
Then AAT raid came.
We started heroic immediately, and were crushed by p2 to nothing. OK, so we weren't ready. started normal and did that grind. I saw on forums that guilds were poaching strong players. "Not my guild" i thought. "we stay together and we will just work together until these 50 people are all ready for heroic"
Nope, now we are about to merge with another guild of already 150 players. Yeah so 200 people in 4 guilds. We put the strong with the strong and the weak with the weak. no more will we carry the weaker, because most of the guild is selfish and just needs to beat heroic asap. I could be in the top guild of the 4, i have plenty of jawa and droid power, but the fact that these selfish players need to beat heroic asap makes me disgusted.
I will be leaving this guild, and looking for a more happy, less selfish guild. Maybe the next one will be less into being the best, and more into enjoying the community of each other.
Before you comment "well now you have a community of 200," No. I will not, because it will be split based on power. that is not a community, that is 200 people pretending to help each other.
And if any of my current (soon to be ex) guildmates are reading this, I'm sorry if you disagree with me but oh well, we have different ideas of "community" and "fun progression"

i was pushing towards this guild just staying as is, we almost hit p4 last time we tried heroic. we even lost a member here and there who gave up on game, and we could have then grabbed a power player, getting us closer. i had faith that maybe the guild would stay together, but now we are about 3 days away from merging and no point in hope anymore
There's a bit of resistance from some who want to farm who they want to farm and play their game how they want to play their game so loggerheads are inevitable.
There really is very few positives from this raid, it's sad. We are staying together though, I would have prob quit long ago if it wasn't for the community of our guild so I'm not going to sack it off now for a toon everyone will have in a few months time.
Well, when 30% of your guild is composed of that level of player, the Normal AAT raid is just a slog. I was in the top 2 in damage in the raid, but we were moving at a really slow pace and, worse yet, people were starting to quit on the raid because they said its boring.
Well, what could I do? So I joined a stronger guild and we have worked our way to the point where we just finished the Normal AAT raid in a few days and we will be trying a Heroic AAT raid today.
If your goal is progression in the game, then sometimes you have to make a move to help reach that goal. The new gold raid gear is what we need to get to gear 11 so we need to be competing in the AAT raid.
Lol I'm being asked to join other guilds, but that isn't what this post is about!
Im in the guild with Jacen, and they have been a great group of people since I have a joined months ago. People from all over and everyone is very helpful (especially this guy). Have not had huge turnover from the AAT raid and having fun getting to Heroic together. I think we are going to give Heroic another try very soon. Looking more for fun active people who don't take the game too seriously.
I came 16th with 1.1 Million damage. We had 2 non contrubutors, one zero and 11 under 500K. And thats a guild currently in the top 10 as we speak.
This talk of lots of guilds full of whales is in theory limited to what, 10-20 of them tops
At least so far, we've managed to maintain our internal community while we work on gearing up to heroic. We have members who will have to carry more than a 2% burden, because we have others who won't be able to do so. But we don't have an issue with that. We are getting to the point of having multiple 7* Han Solos in our guild, so we instituted a rule limiting damage for people who have him at 7* and the immediate response from the people who the rule has impacted or is about to impact was unanimously positive.
Just talking with the top players in our guild, it's clear that the defined community is more important to them than chasing General Kenobi. That's not necessarily the case for everybody. Ask anyone who (reportedly) spent thousands of dollars yesterday to get Baze. Someone who is willing to drop that kind of cash, within hours of an update, to get and max out a new character is likely to value the collection aspects of the game more. There's nothing wrong with that -- this is a game, and it's meant to appease your need for fun. If you find more fun in the collection, then you leave your guild if it isn't capable of doing heroic AAT. If you find more fun in the community you're a part of, you stay.
And, @Khorvog_Karbossa, if you are ultimately going to leave your guild, and are looking for a new one, let me know.
but thats just me seeing the glass as half full
*strong not sting
That is true. Its the whole big fish in a smaller pond thing. Said players would get say top 5 rewards rather than 21-40 in the current guild.
Which will be great until a third raid comes out. And then everyone splits up again.
Recruiting is brutal out there!
I think once they nerf the Normal AAT raid more guilds will be able to do it and there will be less angst in the community. Reality is, guilds that were only doing Tier 6 Rancor raids probably don't need to be doing Normal AAT raids right now. Its the Heroic Rancor raid guilds that are having a tough time that need a nerf of the Normal AAT to make it more manageable.
Luckily my guild has been pretty solid and only had one person leave. We are finally at the end of P4 now and the last week or so, our damage has gone way up as we figured out some strategies.
There's already been talks of this among top level guilds doing heroic, all it takes is 1 or 2 squads per phase that can pump out reliable damage to make it trivial. Some guilds are already limiting attacks per phase and putting a halt on damage after a certain point so everyone gets a shot.
Make Zader Great Again!
honestly if the guild i was in would just give it a good month more, we would have stayed together AND beat heroic.
