No more crystals in GC rewards

Prev1
Where is the communication on the changing of rewards, or perhaps any update on GC and the timing or upcoming factions needed? This new game mode isn't so new anymore and we are still missing crucial information and some semblance of consistency. The rewards were a problem, you changed them, most thought they were agreeable, now you change them again and take out the best reward in exchange for new mod materials? I think it's fair to say that mods are not one of the highlights in the game for most players. Furthermore, some players choose to ignore mods all together. Why then would you think taking a versatile and valuable reward like crystals from the player base and replacing it with mod materials would increase engagement in your game mode or morale in your community? The mod materials should have been in addition to the crystals, not in place of them.

If you're ignoring mods altogether, I very much doubt you're actually clearing most of the high tier GCs.
Like this one, if you're not running chars around 260-300 speed, vader's probably killing your entire team before you get a turn on T7.

Also, this GC was ridiculously easy. I honestly don't think it was actually challenging enough to warrant crystal rewards. Literally anyone with JKR unlocked and a single decent speed mod set can clear the entire thing by just marking palpatine pretty much, rest of your team hardly even matters, just need enough damage output to kill him before JKR dies.

Would Crystals be nice? Sure. But we've gone what, 3? 4? years without this source of crystals perfectly fine.
I'll take new mod mats that are actually technically a QoL feature over slightly faster farms any day.
Just really wish there was a bit... more of the mod mats. 1 mod/week is really uh... going to make the choice of which mod to slice difficult.

    You’re missing his point.
Since the rollout of GC’s they’ve communicated with us twice about them. Once to acknowledge why the rewards were so bad at first, and again to tell us what the next step was.
There’s been nothing else. No explanation why it’s no longer a daily thing like the planned. No explanation why so long in between GC’s. No explanation as to a schedule or structure of opponents and buffs for your own team. No explanation on consistent rewards or the basis of them.

Their communication is getting worse somehow and that’s a truly bad achievement for them.

I could not disagree more with this.
Furthermore, some players choose to ignore mods all together.

If they do, that’s their choice. They must place horrendously in arena as a result, but that’s their choice.

I find it hard to accept, however, that any player who ignores mods would care about the meagre amount of crystals GCs offer. They would earn vastly more crystals if they cared about mods to improve their arena performance.

At the top end of the game, mods are everything.

They have yet to address where we are heading. Whether officialised or not, it's obvious we are still testing.

    2 options I would be fine with;
    - Current set of rewards, non stop gcs.
    - Current set+crystals, weekly

    Shh, CG. Might notice.

So I’ve got 3 toons ready for a level up to G13 all that was missing are the unfarmable MK5 droid callers. Maybe it was a act of God but GC’s rewarded 3 fully crafted pieces tonight. Am I dreaming or will rich uncle CG just strip these away?? Wouldn’t be the first time.

Pretty sure you need salvage, not the fully crafted, for g13 finishers

Yep, you need the salvage. But as someone at 3.4m GP, the 3 full pieces are more than welcome.

Its kinda obviously not intended, seeing as the rest of the tiers reward only 3 salvage of various gear.

You are all missing the point. What we should be discussing is the incredible generosity of EA! I mean they rolled the exciting new mod tiers out (instead of using those development cycles to give us fresh, new, fun, playable content), and they were kind enough to give those who completed the entire challenge enough materials to upgrade exactly one mod exactly one time!!! I am truly blown away by this incredible act magnanimity! I feel humbled to be in the presence of such a munificent organization!

No but you get 3 fully crafted Mk5 Droid Callers. Enjoy!

Hello Holotable heroes! We regret to inform you that those droid callers added to GC's were a mistake. We have now changed them back to what they were supposed to be (5 droid caller salvage). See you on the Holotables!

How is anyone doing 30 crits on t4? I kill them so fast.

Edit: nm. It is across multiple attempts.

Looks like the mod slices are intended to replace the crystals, which I think is a fair trade. Crystals are always welcome and it's sad to see them go, but I'm more excited by the new mod slicing system.

As for the droid callers, if it was a mistake they should just facepalm and let it be. Patching mid-event will create a bunch of angry users that didn't get them, and trying to take them back seems to be a pretty ok involved process (remember Malak?). Let it stand as is and be more careful next time CG.

I'm not brushing over the communication thing, because we should have more of an idea of what is going on with GCs. They missed the last step of the process and we should have had a "closing remark" about what GCs are and some semblance of the plan from.here on out.

Now that said, I don't think GCs have ever been planned to be consistent (the event itself, not the timing or anything like that), they were mean to kind of be a "mash up" with the combinations being somewhat random of player buff, enemy buff, and environmental buff/debuff/challenge. That was played out early with this game mode.

We did (kinda) know the rewards were changing, as they told us this was going to be the location to farm the new mod slicing mats.

Anyone who thinks mods are not key to this game, is missing the point.

Mods are the one thing, the one movable staple that can make or break an entire roster. There is nothing more consistantly META proof than mods. (Thrawn and likely WAT, coming in a close, but distant second)

Fun fact #132: the devs have a love hate relationship with fracture and WAT.

Agreed that mods are absolutely key to any roster. With that said, the amount of these new mk 2 mats given out in the GC is atrocious. You get enough to roll one mod....one...and with 4 GC a month, it’s simply not enough. We need to know what the plan is with these GC’s.

    Agreed.

So we need 30 mods for an arena team and we get enough mats for 4 mods per month. So it will take 8 months to upgrade your arena teams mods. That's not even considering the times you get bad rolls. This is insane. How anyone could think this is good enough is beyond me.

It takes 15 galactic challenges to max 6 mods. So at 1 gc per week it would take 75 weeks to max a full arena squad assuming you can complete all tiers & feats.

Their plan is to have you spend $$$ on the materials. Wasn't that obvious? ;)
