4L normal ...EA really? Ridiculous

This fight is ridiculous.
Stacked as usual with grenade spamming troopers who throw every round.
Just ridiculous.
Option 1 : grind for days to 3 star pass a fight 7 levels below your team or
Option 2 : spend money in game....
EA obviously are hoping for option 2
I however am not so naive, and expect there to be many of these stacked fights along the way.
Nice try EA but unless it gets fixed I will be moving on to better coded games.

Dont spend money, just ignore it and come back in literally a week. Thats about how long it took me.

Inb4 sycophants and "stoopid noob, CG/EA is perfect and ethical, no wai this is a tactic to get ewe to spend moneys"

I am not sure 3* is entirely necessary on that one, you should be able to clear it fully before you reach the level you unlock the next light side missions though! So it does not hold you back all that much. The aoe does suck but at least on light side you can get healers...
  • I'm not into grinding like that.
There are so many better games out there for that.
Very easy to see its EA tactics for sales.
If you have played in a casino, the tactics here are very similar.
Throw you a nice learning curve then boom, steep climb and hope you spend $$$$.

Yeah, I am mostly here because it is star wars and I have had a soft spot for turn based combat since I first played final fantasy. I would not bother spending money on this game unless you are willing to spend hundreds to get some fun chrome characters, and frankly I do not have that kind of money lying about for anything right now, let alone a game which still would not let me play more then an hour a day :D

What do you mean you're not into grinding? This game IS about grinding. Just beat them at their own game. Take some time to farm and strengthen your team and come back and get it done lol. Besides, you will be doing yourself a favor after all by boosting your team.

That's my team getting hammered but it gives me a chance to test myself and get better. Others have passed it and we will too in time lol.

Before I saw this video I could have sworn that when you used taunt on chewie almost all enemies stop using aoe specials until it is over...guess i have just been getting some seriously crazy random xD

Also can you have allies yet? get more allies, you get more social (lols) points which means more bronzium packs and...whilst I myself did not believe in them until like 3 days ago, you actually can get people and useful things, I have just got Mace and 5s out of bronziums

Just tried again, all team is level 37 geared, 3 and 4 stars which is way above this kind of fight level.
I don't get a chance to do anything.
1st wave is grenade spam kills one party member instantly
2nd wave 5 grenade spammers plus a healer
Chewies taunt is a waste of time against AOE attacks.
I had an allie with me, 1400 point, dead in wave 2 from 5 grenades
By this point I just quit after a continuos grenade storm, also if they kill member they seem to get timers back up to full for extra attack as I couldn't even get an action.
I spend $30 on packs, just a bunch of useless shards for toons I will never play, total waste of money.
All bronze packs through arena ( rank 60-70 ATM ) just gave me mats for gear, I've had 30 bronze so far, never seen a single toon.
    Beyond a joke.

@Nzchimeran so you hit a wall in a game? That never happened to you before?
You guys should have played Mario Lost World and come back again to complain about 1 level you can't pass right now.
Has nothing to do with spending money, level up and try again. If you think Light Side is hard, Try Dark Side ewok battles.. I never understood the rights people think to have to blast through content without resistance. It's a game, it requires you to think.
If you leave, gl finding other mobile games that are better in this way.

I think you have missed the point.
    It is about game balance.
    4L normal is not balanced.
The enemy is level 30 yet can wipe out a geared level 37 team.
Can a player build a team that can do this? No
Can a player build a team on level 0+3 levels above enemy and defeat this fight? No.
To win this fight requires a much larger investment than should be required to pass this.
It is not a cantina fight, not an arena, not a hard level fight, it is normal and far below the level of characters fighting.
This argument, in case you didn't read the OP, is about EA stacking the fights ( and there are many more exactly the same as this ) in a bid to push the in game sales.
    Mario last world /lol
You should have played EQ and quested for rune armor, oh... Forget that, you probably were not even born when that game was out. Toon dies, you lose exp and levels permanently.
Or maybe SWG when your Jedi died after taking a year to get one and gone forever, permanent death.

Ahh Everquest.. I remember incredibly long corpse recovery runs.. The Hole and some Fear raids comes to mind. And making a billion picnic baskets just to get some earrings..

Back on topic, are the fights over tuned with the character makeup? Certainly are. Are there others that are well under tuned? Certainly are.. There are quite a few fights that have like two wimpy guys per wave or 5 guys that all just taunt as their first round action. if EA was obviously hoping for the later, then there shouldn't be any clearly undertuned fights either as they aren't going for the cash grab on those.

While I'm definitely not defending CG for not properly balancing all of the fights better, I think it's a bit of an overreaction on your part as well. Honestly when I encountered that, I just farmed gear for my characters for a couple of days and when I retried the encounter, my guys smashed the team and I progressed up till where I should be again.

In the thirties, it doesn't take very long at all. Enjoy the ride and try not to dwell on the speedbumps and potholes too much. Goodluck!

edit: and Yes, I'm talking about the FIRST everquest! lol!

Making assumptions based on my age and failing miserably :D
Mario Lost World was just an example. You don't have to spend money on it, my friend is playing this for a month now and he passed the lvl with complete f2p acc. It takes time, sure but that's in every game where you hit a wall.
I'm from '85 so I doubt my age has anything to do with it.
    EQ release 1999
    Lost Levels Mario 1984

Anyway you might be stuck there for a few days, after that you can make it. If you still don't have luminara then farm her so it will be easier to pass.

  • Just relax, gear up, level up. We have all been there. There are plenty of topic about this stage. And what if you finish this stage? You cant proceed to 5 because you have to be level 42 or something. Some guy just started a topic for guys like you (noobs) hè posted his ally code there So you can borrow his lvl60 luminara.
  • Yeah that lvl's a wall and as said above and before on the forums you can't progress on the next lvl's before lvl 41/42 or something. If you have an ally with Ben, borrow him and use the ability block, that's how I did it at lvl 43 or so. A lot of final nodes have difficulty jumps, on 5, I've 3*'d every level except the last which sits at 1. At these points in the game you lvl up your characters and gear, grind for a couple of days and come back. There's no need to rush through LS\DS lvl's unless you need the gear drop on that node.

    Moved on to shadowrun
Give EA a good sniff fo me will you.

  • Unlocked Daka today after hitting a wall in DS missions. Took ages but she's here now and I will try hitting the DS missions as soon as energy refills. I was so frustrated with not being able to run the DS missions without a second healer that I spent all my credits that I was saving to promote Luminara into training Daka just so I can start hitting the mission asap. This IS the game. Strategise, work towards a goal, collect the tools necessary to reach that goal and bask in personal glory/satisfaction when you reach the goal. Some will spend money, some will grind. The pot at the end of the rainbow is just that, satisfaction and pride in getting your goal. Guess what, the harder it is, the bigger the pot is.

@EA, have a game mode where some people can just complete all missions with a click of a button. No drops, no rewards, game over for them. They can then be happy. Or can they?
  • Just leave the battles alone for a while and build you squad. And the bronzium cards do drop decent characters. I've drawn douku, barriss, 5's and poogle from them. Build up your Ally points over 1k then draw all the cards one after another. Doesn't work every time but I've read posts by other players on the forum that have had luck drawing them like this too.
  • OP installed Shadowrun, let's see how that goes. It's just 1 out of 5 million users so gl and hf Nzchimeran

  • They said they would fix this like a month ago. Even though I'm already past the mission it really hindered my progress back when i was lv 40ish...

This mission brought my Light Side PvE progress to a grinding halt. Had to wait until my team were in their mid-forties to actually make it through the 'nade spam. And even then I only manage to two-star it.

Made me feel like I was playing Bad Company 2 all over again...

  • I don't mind difficulty. What irritates me about this level, is the NPCs clearly being higher powered than what their levels indicate.

The short answer is, you will eventually pass it at a higher level. However, that doesn't make it any better.
  • @ xylitol0524

Well as most people have holidays in december I'm sure that they will fix stuff in the next patch.
You are right tho, it does hinder progress but only gearwise. If you have to wait a few days extra before you can pass it, the lost time is actually not that much. Campaign clearing is least important of all.

There's nothing to fix... It's a difficulty spike. Games have had those since games were first made.

If Nintendo created the Zelda 64 Water temple today, people would apparently flood the forums, demanding of them to make it easier?? Sorry, but this is not an issue. The level isn't broken, it's just very hard. If you don't want difficulty, there's solitaire to play on every computer out there.

Yes and no. There's difficult and then there's just plain silly. Now, Bloodborne's Bloodletting Beast is difficult. You need skill, patience and tactics to defeat it. Rushing in with your weapon swinging and hoping for the best will just get you killed. Fast.

4L doesn't work like that. You need to rush in and hope for the best (unless you've invested hundreds of $$$), because you can only use your light-side chars which, at this stage, don't exactly have the greatest synergies yet. So it's all down to luck - how much dmg will the nade spam do in the first round before you manage to squeeze in a heal. That's not the kind of difficulty you should face. If this is supposed to be the equivalent of a boss fight, why is it that the stormies are a greater challenge than the boss as such? And why does the difficulty level drop down so drastically in 5A? It took me quite a while to get through 4L while I had no problems three-starring 5A with the exact same team just moments later. That's not a good sign.
  • I have a slightly different experience here. Lumi goes faster than the troopers. if she crits her special, thats one trooper down. I used Ima as the ally to get the team counter. It still means you have to have enough health be able to take some grenades, but the counter means that the enemy numbers get whittled down and Lumi and JC can heal the team back the next round.

Its only the first round thats nasty. The third is a letdown

I don't do missions until I need something from it. I focused on leveling my characters for light and dark side. The results were incredible, it was a breeze to complete mission with I started them. I'm level 60 and I'v just completed 5C normal for both light and dark side mission. I haven't started the other missions yet because I don't need anything from them yet. When they increase the cap I'll need the new gear from those missions.

Why the heck is everyone quoting games from the past decade lol?

Nade spam damage will always be fixed. What can be changed is the heroes HP/Damage. Like you said in Bloodborne, the same applies here. You need skill, patience and tactics to defeat it. Rushing in with your heroes and hoping for the best will just get you killed. Fast. And please, there are plenty of games out there where the minions are stronger than the boss itself.

Level up and gear up the heroes. Skill them up as well. There's like 5 character levels until Stage 5 unlocks. That's enough time to improve the heroes to get past 4L. It's also not 'wasting time' training heroes just to get past 4L, but it is necessary to get past the later stages as well. No money needed just time (probably 3-5 days).
  • Honestly, you guys shouldn't bother trying to strategize and post suggestions here. I know I am bumping the thread too (although I wouldn't if there was a no bump option), but the OP has already shown he has no interest in improving his strategy and strengthening his team. There's no point in wasting time on people who refuse to see they are just too stubborn to play the game how it's meant to be. Anyone who struggles with this stage at the player level and level of progression he claimed to be, yet had no desire to take into account that he was simply too weak in-game and apparently mentally to try to overcome it through effort should really just give up and go play another game, as they did. Better than having them flame you for giving them legitimate advice and flouting all common sense and decency. Just forget about them and their pettiness and move on.

There's plenty of great heroes available in GW and Squad Arena. You can definitely build a strong synergy team. But yes, it will take time. Because GC wants this game to last more than a couple of months. Patience is a virtue. And as has been stated above, it's not like you're wasting your time, leveling and gearing up your heroes. It needs to be done sooner or later anyway.
